My dear friend, The Sherman Foundation has a dear friend, John Hobbs, who made this amazing video for Passion Pit, a band I hadn’t heard of before but which I want to dig into a little now.

Here’s what TSF had to say about how it was made…
After they shot the footage for this new video he and his partners printed out every frame, thousands, manipulating/distressing them then glued them into thick bricks. They then built custom animation stands so they could rip/tear/animate the transitions etc., reshooting frame by frame then reimporting it all.

I usually don’t get so turned on by fidelity/resolutio. but this is sick.

He also once sent a dead fish to a pollster who displeased him and has said of himself, “I wake up some mornings hating me, too.” The guy’s like a character out of an Elmore Leonard novel.
